Limassol Art Walks 2023
Within the framework of Limassol Art Walks 2023
the group 15m² invites the experimental collective TaPeTouPa
with their project syghronoi rempetes- tsonta edition.
The presentation is part of a wider project which documents the visual vocabulary produced through the activity of the art group TaPeTouPa. In their art interventions, the collective adopts practices pertaining to experimental art and activism with emphasis on the investigation of public space and neighbourhood culture.
Exploring the transformative possibilities of their practice on the neighbourhood
and its inhabitants, the group brings attention to previously overlooked spaces, empowering the community to take control of their environment. For this action,
a fragmented visual narrative of the group is presented through zines, which were edited for this proposal by Charis Kalogeridis, founding member of TaPeTouPa,
in collaboration with Marios Paschalidis from the 15m2 group.
The members of the experimental art collective tapaitoupa are driven by their shared need for creativity, and their deep-rooted passion for neighborhood and the street culture. Their collective efforts result in newly created art models that combine image, sound and technology blurring the boundaries between traditional art forms and contemporary media.
Charis Kalogeridis
Charis, a multidisciplinary graphic designer, based in Nicosia, Cyprus brings a most personal, uncanny visual dynamic to the art collective. With a keen eye for “anti-pop” aesthetics and a mastery of unorthodox design compositions, Charis creates unique visuals that breathe life into their artistic endeavours. His creations seamlessly blend colours, shapes, and typography, capturing the essence of their neighbourhood and street culture. Through his design vision, Kalogeridis adds depth and meaning to the collective’s collaborative projects, drawing his partners into a world where imagination and reality inter- twine, shaping an unconventional structure.
Group "TaPeTouPa"
Kalogeridis, Stefanos Nikolaou and Kyriakos Struthos have formed an experimental
art collective driven by their shared need for creativity and their deep-rooted passion for the neighborhood and the street culture they bring. Their collective efforts result
in newly created art models that merge image, sound and technology, thus blurring the boundaries between traditional art forms and contemporary practical media.
As they continue to experiment their collective attitude focuses on the importance
of collaboration and the multi-dimensional possibilities of street art,
as they call it.
Charis brings his experience and knowledge in visual communication. With a keen
eye for 'anti-pop' aesthetics and unorthodox design compositions, he creates visual vocabularies that breathe life into their artistic endeavors. Stefanos is a musician.
His work spans, from raw Cypriot Hip-hop, to traditional Greek Rebetiko, while creating newly formed hybrids that tend to be more experimental.
